KLM

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, founded in 1919, is the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. With its headquarters in Amstelveen and a major hub at Schiphol, KLM is renowned for its pioneering role in commercial aviation. As part of the Air France-KLM Group, the airline boasts an extensive network of flights to various international destinations.

Many pilots aspire to work for KLM, attracted by the variety of aircraft types and the wide range of destinations.

See below for more information about the KLM selection process.

KLM Selection

The selection process for KLM is an extensive procedure that typically takes about two months. This process is divided into three main phases, each assessing crucial aspects of your abilities and suitability as a pilot.

The selection begins with an online personality test by LTP. Following this, the Aviation Medical Center (AMC) conducts the first phase of the examination.

Phase 1: Psychological Assessment

This phase evaluates you in various areas, such as numerical and verbal abilities, abstract and structured thinking, and your personality. During the psychological assessment, you will complete questionnaires, have interviews with a psychologist, and participate in an individual role-play. Prior to your selection day at the AMC, you will take an online personality test with LTP.

Phase 2: Grading

This phase assesses your flying skills during a grading session in one of KLM’s simulators.

Phase 3: Interview with the Admissions Committee (COVA)

The final step is an interview with KLM’s Admissions Committee (COVA). This interview, lasting 30 to 45 minutes, focuses on your selection results, life story, and motivation to fly for KLM.

Preparation for KLM Selection

We offer a special KLM package tailored for the KLM selection process. This is an individual package divided into three phases. If you only want access to the preparation for the aptitude tests, that is also an option.

Since the training is conducted online, you can participate from your base abroad or during a layover.

KLM Selection Package Ultimate
The preparation for the KLM selection process for experienced pilots is a tailored individual program consisting of three training sessions and access to our practice website.

For Phase 1: the psychological tests and the test day at the AMC, there are two training sessions. First, a training session where we explain the aptitude tests and personality tests. We discuss these, and you will then receive 4 months of access to our test website for practice. Based on your progress on the test website, we can provide coaching for optimal preparation if necessary. Note: we do not teach you tricks; we provide insights. You will have to do the work yourself!

The second training session for this phase focuses on the interview with the psychologist and the role-play. Prior to this, you will receive access to a preparation module to reflect on several key aspects of the interview. During the training, we discuss the most important points and practice them thoroughly.

To prepare for the interview with the COVA, you will have a training session where we review your AMC report and fine-tune everything for the admissions interview.

KLM Selection Package Ultimate Light

There is also an Ultimate Light package. Sometimes, it is more convenient to practice the aptitude tests independently. For example, if you have previously undergone selection at the AMC and know what to expect. It could also be that schedules don’t allow for extensive test training.

In such cases, we can omit the aptitude test preparation training from the Ultimate Package. You will still receive 4 months of access to the website but will handle the rest independently. Of course, you can still ask questions during your preparation for the interview and role-play. The rest of the Ultimate Package remains the same.
